Our Favourite Takeaways in Manchester

The food and drink culture is significant in Manchester. Hundreds of thousands of people around the UK follow local foodies like Eat Mcr, who keep you in the loop of the latest and greatest grub our city has to offer.

There are over 900 restaurants and takeaways in Manchester alone, with plenty more in the pipeline. Keep an eye out for Great North Pie, a fantastic pie and mash joint which is relocating from Wilmslow Rd to the city-centre. Being spoilt for choice isn’t the worst problem to have, so we compiled a list of our favourite takeaways that you should pay a visit.

BuzzRocks

On Hulme’s high street you can find a Morrison’s, a Subway and a Co-op; but you should settle for nothing less than a BuzzRocks Caribbean.

With 313 Google reviews averaging a 4.7/5 star rating, you could say they’re more than popular, and for good reason. Their menu offers traditionally seasoned Caribbean staples including steak, curry goat, jerk chicken, dumplings & lamb chops to name a few.

Ian Brown (from the Stone Roses) has been quoted saying ‘Buzzrocks is the best in Northwest. No contest,’ a bold claim from someone who knows Manchester like the back of his hand. If you don’t take it from us, take it from him and pop down when your stomach starts to rumble.

Fresh Fuel Bar

Fresh Fuel Bar is perfect for people who have lunch on the go because of their thorough food prep and quick service. It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to deliver your tantalising takeout.

Paired alongside the amazing healthy foods, the cheerful staff work very hard and keep positive which makes you want to come back and try something else they offer.

Celebrities love Fresh Fuel Bar, with rappers Aitch and MIST often promoting the food on their Instagram. Also, boxers Lyndon Arthur and Zelfa Barrett get their meal prep here.

Burgerism

A rising trend in the industry is to offer food exclusively for online orders and curbside pickup, manifesting the term ‘takeaway’ for its true meaning. Burgerism does exactly this, with no space to dine-in as it operates out of a small kitchen in Salford.

If you head to their cookhouse, don’t be fooled by the appearance. Burgerism has received over 1,200 postive reviews with only a handful of negative ones. Choosing carefully-sourced ingredients for their freshly-cooked burgers and sides, they source produce locally and completely refuse to use additives, fillers, flavour enhancers and binders.

If you find yourself craving a takeout after a long day of work, order a Burgerism to your door and you won’t regret it.

This & That

The home rice & three curries, This or That has been one of Manchester’s favourite curry houses since the family run business opened in 1984. Serving a classic range of Indian curries and vegan alternatives, it welcomes all walks of life to try the famous menu.

All food is homemade and prepared using fresh whole spices for an authentic taste and rich flavour. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is calm and soothing. You can feast between 11:30am and 9:00pm on a Friday or Saturday, then enjoy a night out in town after.

Bando Boxes

Seafood specialists Bando Boxes opened their Old Trafford-based store in early 2019, and have already amassed over 50,000 followers on Instagram.

Selling crab, prawn, salmon and lobster dishes, it’s no surprise they charge more than your average takeaway, but that’s because it isn’t your average takeaway. The filling seafood ‘boxes’ really blow you away, with one portion most likely enough to feed 3 or 4 people.

Below is the ‘Man vs Food with XL Lobster Tail,’ which costs you around £29.95…
